How do I get to Livigno?

Getting to Livigno is very easy nowadays however there are still a few things to consider depending on how you plan on arriving. We have put below some tips to help you decide however simply email us if you need any help or for us to book the transfer for you.

Arriving by flight – How do I get to Livigno from the airport

There are many different airports you can choose from to get to Livigno and we have listed below the main things to consider if flying into one of these airports

  • Milan Bergamo (BGY) – From here we can arrange one of our shuttle coaches to get you to Livigno. These run daily during the ski season and this is normally the cheapest way for small groups to travel and the coach departs from the airport at 2pm. The coach will drop you off at the centre of Livigno however for just 5€ more you can be dropped off at your hotel or apartment. During certain weeks we also have extra coaches which leave on a Saturday at 11am and 6pm as well as 2pm but please email us direct for this. The transfer takes about 4 and a half hours and this includes a comfort stop. The other option is a private transfer which although is a little more expensive, it’s normally quicker and more flexible as these can be booked for anytime you want. For transfers from Livigno to Bergamo these depart daily at 7am and some weeks of the season there are also transfers that leave at 4am (arrive 8.30am) and also 2pm (arrive 6.30pm).   • Milan Linate (LIN) – The shuttle coaches to get you to Livigno only run on a Saturday from Milan Linate to Livigno and depart at 3pm. The coach will drop off at the centre of Livigno however for just 5€ more you can be dropped off at your hotel or apartment. During certain weeks we also have extra coaches which leave on a Saturday at 11am and 1pm as well as 2pm but please email us direct for this. The transfer takes about 4 and a half hours and this includes a comfort stop. The other option is a private transfer which although is a little more expensive, it’s normally quicker and more flexible as these can be booked for anytime you want.   • Milan Malpensa (MXP) – From here we can arrange one of our shuttle coaches which run daily during the ski season, this is normally the cheapest way for small groups to travel and the coach departs from the airport at 12pm and 4pm on a Saturday and 1pm every other day of the week. The coach will drop off at the centre of Livigno however for just 5€ more you can be dropped off at your hotel or apartment. The transfer takes about 4 and a half hours and this includes a comfort stop. The other option is a private transfer which although is a little more expensive, it’s normally quicker and more flexible as these can be booked for anytime you want.   • Innsbruck (INN) – The only shuttle coaches that depart from Innsbruck to Livigno leave at 11am on a Saturday only from 12/1/19 to 23/3/19. The transfer takes about 3 hours. For the shuttle coach from Livigno to Innsbruck, again this is only a Saturday and departs Livigno at 7am. Private transfers can also be arranged for anytime of the day or week.

**Please note the tunnel from Livigno to Switzerland has different opening times on a Saturday, please contact us for up to date travel information

  • Zurich, Geneva – There are no shuttle coaches to and from these airports to Livigno so the only transfer option is a private transfer which can be booked here

 

Driving to Livigno

If you want to get to Livigno by car,  please remember that driving to Livigno during the winter months is restricted.  Only the following passes are open

FOSCAGNO – Open 24 hours

MUNT LA SCHERA – On Saturday the tunnel operates in one direction only for most of the day so please check with us what time you can enter and leave Livigno if travelling on a Saturday. There is also a fee for the tunnel and you can purchase a return ticket.

**IMPORTANT – Many sat navs will direct you from Tirano to make a turn to Switzerland towards the “Passo Forcola” – PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PASS IS CLOSED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS and you should continue on the road from Tirano in the direction of Bormio.

Allow for extra time for your journey in busy weeks as depending on where you are driving from you may also have to queue for the Vereina tunnel in Switzerland (check train times before travel) as well as to enter Livigno via the Munt La Schera tunnel.

Snow chains are a legal requirement during the winter months for all vehicles.

 

By Train

  1. From Milan – You can take the public transport from Milan centrale train station to Tirano. Then from Tirano you take a bus to Bormio and then from Bormio to Livigno also by bus. Please check the upto date times of the last bus from Bormio to Livigno otherwise you will need to take a taxi.
  2. From Zurich – Depending on the time of travel you will need to take 2/3 trains from the airport to get to Zernez, from Zernez you can take a bus to Livigno. For new times for the 2018/19 season please contact us
