My place in the snow, in the Italian Alps

……..my week of heaven in a place that ticks all the boxes…

We have been skiing for nearly 30 years ……starting in Austria …. before heading south to Sauze D’Oulx for a few winters

In recent years we have been skiing in Livigno and that is where we will be staying as it has so much right about it when you are looking for a skiing resort.

It is a fabulous ski area with superbly pisted wide-open slopes as well as plenty of off-piste for the more advanced.

Livigno has so much to offer and this is one area where it scores over the other ski areas we have been to; where all the action started and ended on the slope. Whatever your level of skiing Livigno’s slopes are sure to be suitable.

Where to eat?

The great thing about Livigno is, there are many fabulous restaurants, ALL over the resort and mountains. Our favourite up the Carosello mountain is a place called Tea-Borch… not for the faint-hearted as the restaurant is situated at the side of the black slope giving you a view of the whole resort. Wobbly legs about skiing down the black? Not to worry as the restaurant offers a skidoo service down!

For those wanting the après-ski atmosphere to continue, Livigno has a great nightlife scene including Miky’s Disco Club where you have to slide down (literally) to get in!

The above may not be for everyone so, but not too worry as Livigno has many wellness areas and facilities. The best of them is a huge complex called Aquagranda situated down by the gorgeous Livigno Lake, and it has everything from swimming pools, slides, saunas, jacuzzi and massage.

Where to stay?

We usually stay in a self-catering apartment in the centre of the village, but there are many hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation as well.   The last few years we have stayed in Chalet Stevan and Chalet Picchio which we found suited all of our needs.

Should you want somewhere away from the centre for your stay, Livigno offers a free bus service from 8am-8pm daily with 4 buses that loop around the resort to bring you to wherever you wish to go.
